Asian Night Market Collaboration: APhiG x AASU

Each year, Alpha Phi Gamma partners up with Asian American Student Union (AASU) to create an Asian night market. The event features live performers, delicious food trucks, and student entrepreneurs showcasing and selling their creations. It is one of our most favorite events of the semester, bringing together students, alumni, and community members to celebrate Asian culture and creativity. The night market is also a wonderful opportunity for our sisters to connect with others, support local talent, and strengthen our presence within the community while creating unforgettable memories together. There was a Filipino food truck, Korean bento boxes, and even more food stalls that made the night so fun. This year, our president, Emily Tran, even performed on stage with Tatsumaki Yosakoi (a Japanese dance team founded on campus 20 years ago this year!).
“This is my last fall semester being able to perform with Tatsumaki before I graduate this upcoming May, so I wanted to make sure I gave it my all! My team just got back from performing in Calgary, CA, so it was so great to perform the songs from there in front of my friends, community, and sorority sisters!”
In addition to supporting performers and vendors, our chapter hosted the face painting station. Our sisters had so much fun letting their creativity shine, painting everything from cute designs to intricate patterns for attendees of all ages. Some of our favorite designs we did were flowers to represent different cultures, butterflies, and even the occasional batman logo. Seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces truly made all the effort worthwhile. Everyone in our active house was able to participate and for some it was their first night market. We’re so proud to continue working alongside AASU and look forward to keeping this amazing tradition alive for years to come!
